US Supreme Court rules states may bar transgender women from women's sports teams

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that states may ban transgender women from competing on women's sports teams at secondary schools, colleges and universities. More than two dozen states already have laws barring transgender athletes from competing on teams that do not align with their sex assigned at birth. Legal observers said the ruling was not surprising given the court's recent direction.
