Pentagon workforce cuts risk fielding weapons with hidden defects, watchdog warns
The US Government Accountability Office (GAO) has warned that major workforce reductions at the Pentagon's Office of the Director of Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E) are leaving action officers overseeing too many programmes or areas outside their expertise. The watchdog cautioned this creates a serious risk of fielding weapons systems with undetected flaws. GAO called for the changes to be reviewed and corrected.
