First complete papyrus scroll from Herculaneum library fully deciphered

For the first time, researchers have fully deciphered a papyrus scroll from the ancient library of Herculaneum, the Roman city destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. The Herculaneum scrolls had long been considered impossible to unroll without damage due to their carbonisation. The breakthrough represents a major advance in the study of surviving ancient texts.
