Montenegro's EU entry in 2028 to cost less than €1 per EU citizen per year

European Commission spokesman Guillaume Mercier announced on Tuesday that Montenegro's accession to the EU will cost a total of €3.2 billion — less than €1 per EU citizen per year. The country is expected to join the bloc in 2028, marking the EU's first enlargement in years.
