Bronze Age petroglyphs prove Scandinavian sailors reached Spain 3,000 years ago

Archaeologists from Durham University analysed Bronze Age petroglyphs at 12 sites in north-western Iberia and compared them with rock art from southern Scandinavia. The findings, published in PLOS One, provide direct evidence of a prehistoric maritime network linking Scandinavia and the Iberian Peninsula. Identical ship carvings found in both regions indicate regular contact and technology transfer across the Atlantic as far back as 3,000 years ago.
