CAF rejects plan to expand Africa Cup of Nations from 24 to 28 teams

The Confederation of African Football's executive committee has rejected a proposal to expand the Africa Cup of Nations from 24 to 28 teams. The idea had been put forward by CAF president Patrice Motsepe in February at a press conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and would have taken effect at the 2028 tournament. An executive committee member described it as a "very bad idea."
