Iran threatens Hormuz control ahead of fresh US talks in Qatar
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi declared that Iran wants to control maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil shipping lane. Tehran is seeking an agreement with Oman, which borders the strait's southern side, but will act alone if Oman declines. The statement came just before fresh talks in Qatar aimed at formally ending the US–Iran war.
