Heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency in which the body's core temperature exceeds 40°C, triggering a cascade of organ damage. Dr Janusz Sokołowski, head of the Emergency Medicine Clinic in Wrocław, compares the process to the body "cooking from the inside".
