Iran Rejects Macron's Plan to Demine the Strait of Hormuz

Iran has rejected French President Emmanuel Macron's proposal for a multinational effort — including France and the UK — to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, demining is solely Iran's responsibility and no other country may participate. He warned France "not to complicate" the situation further with what he called provocations.
