Masha Polska, 15, dreamed of the prom waltz — her date danced alone

Masha Polska, a 15-year-old avid dancer from Kyiv, had been dreaming of performing the group waltz at her school prom. She did not live to see it — her date had to dance alone at the event. Her story has become a symbol of the young lives cut short and the milestones stolen by the war in Ukraine.
