Paraguay's keeper Orlando Gill sold his gear to fund son's treatment, now World Cup hero

Paraguay goalkeeper Orlando Gill became a World Cup 2026 hero on the night of June 29–30 after his team knocked out favourites Germany on penalties. His partner Melissa Avalos revealed that in earlier years Gill had to sell his own sporting equipment to raise money for his young son's medical treatment. Paraguay's win is considered one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history.
