Scientists discover how a brain protein spreads toxic Alzheimer's proteins between neurons

Researchers have identified a common brain protein that transports toxic Tau proteins from damaged neurons into healthy ones, giving Alzheimer's disease a previously unknown spreading mechanism. Blocking these harmful protein packages before they reach new cells could one day slow the disease's progression. The finding opens new potential therapeutic avenues.
