Bitmine buys $43M in Ether, joins Russell 1000 index with 5.7M ETH held

Bitmine purchased approximately $43 million worth of Ether last week, bringing its total holdings to 5.7 million ETH. The acquisition coincided with the company's inclusion in the Russell 1000 Index. Bitmine's stated goal is to accumulate enough ETH to own 5% of the cryptocurrency's total supply.
