British American Tobacco cuts 9,000 jobs in digital and AI shift

British American Tobacco has announced it will cut 9,000 jobs as part of a restructuring aimed at making the company "more digital and AI-focused." The company had signalled the savings drive earlier this year. The move represents one of the largest recent layoffs in the consumer goods sector.
