European Parliament stands firm against weakening air passenger rights under EC261

EU Regulation EC261 has for over 20 years guaranteed enforceable air passenger rights, making EU travellers 70% less likely to face delays over three hours and 20% less likely to face same-day cancellations than US passengers. The regulation prevents an estimated 8,400 hours of flight delays per year. The European Parliament is resisting proposals to weaken these protections, warning it would be the biggest rollback of air passenger rights in history.
