Ornate lead coffin found in Britain reveals burial customs of wealthy Roman women

Archaeologists excavating the site of a former hospital in south-east England have unearthed a richly decorated lead coffin dating to the late Roman period, containing the remains of a woman who lived approximately 1,600 years ago. The find is considered one of the most spectacular Roman-era discoveries in Roman Britain.
