ESA's ExoMars orbiter finds no methane on Mars after 8 years of searching
The European Space Agency's ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter has spent more than eight years scanning Mars's atmosphere for methane and has yet to detect any, despite being equipped with instruments specifically designed for that purpose. The absence of methane casts doubt on earlier reports of its presence and complicates theories about potential microbial life on the Red Planet.
