Childbirth is just as hard for many primates as for humans, study finds

A new study challenges the long-held belief that difficult childbirth is uniquely human. Researchers found that many other primate species experience a birth process just as challenging as humans do. For decades, the difficulty of human labour was attributed to the combination of a narrow pelvis and large infant head size, but the new findings suggest this is a far more widespread phenomenon across primates.
