Samsung roadmaps 1,000-layer NAND and 32TB M.2 SSDs by end of decade

Samsung unveiled a NAND memory roadmap targeting 1,000-layer designs by the end of this decade at the IEEE/JSAP VLSI Symposium 2026. The company expects to reach roughly 420 layers by 2029 and surpass 560 layers in 2030. The long-term goal is to enable 32TB M.2 SSDs, with Cell Multi-Bonding explored as a replacement for conventional vertical scaling approaches.
