Comcast to spin off NBCUniversal and Sky — reversing 15-year-old merger

Comcast plans to spin off NBCUniversal and Sky into a stand-alone entity, reversing the media takeover it began more than 15 years ago. Co-CEO Mike Cavanagh, set to lead the new company, explained that Comcast simply changed its mind about the businesses being better together. Company executives insist the separation is not designed to pursue mergers or acquisitions.
