Two cyclists die at Marki race; organiser says 95% of route was shaded

Two cyclists died during a race organised by Poland Bike in Marki amid record-breaking heat in Poland. Race director Grzegorz Wajs told Interia that 95% of the route was shaded and that immediate assistance is always provided when a rider collapses. Wajs noted that heat-related collapses are not uncommon at cycling events.
