Zelensky proposes Mazepa monument where Lenin statue was toppled in Kyiv

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed erecting a monument to Cossack Hetman Ivan Mazepa on the site in Kyiv where Lenin's statue was toppled during the Euromaidan protests. He had earlier submitted a bill to parliament to establish a National Pantheon honouring figures who fought for Ukrainian independence across different eras. The Pantheon bill has stirred controversy in Poland.
