British American Tobacco Cuts 9,000 Jobs as It Shifts to AI
British American Tobacco (BAT), maker of Dunhill cigarettes, has announced it will cut 9,000 of its 47,000 employees — about one fifth of its workforce. Some 5,500 jobs will be eliminated by year-end, with a further 3,500 outsourced. The company aims to reduce costs and become more technology-enabled through greater use of artificial intelligence.
