Thousands of foreigners flee South Africa ahead of anti-immigrant June 30 'deadline'

Thousands of foreign nationals, including Congolese refugees in KwaZulu-Natal province, have fled South Africa in recent weeks after anti-immigrant groups announced a June 30 "deadline" for foreigners to leave. Protests turned violent, forcing people to abandon their homes and livelihoods. The South African government has not issued any official deportation policy behind the deadline.
