Apple Seeks Clearance to Buy Blacklisted Chinese RAM Chips – Faces Uphill Battle

Apple is attempting to persuade the Trump administration to allow it to purchase memory chips from Chinese companies CXMT and YMTC, both blacklisted by the Pentagon. A similar request made to the Biden administration in 2022 failed, even though Apple promised to use the chips only in iPhones sold in China. Analysts suggest the new attempt faces equally long odds.
