Cancer striking younger people — cases under 50 up 24% since 1990 globally
Global cancer diagnoses among people under 50 rose by 24% between 1990 and 2019. In Australia, Canada, the UK and the US, those born in the 1990s face at least four times the risk of early-onset colorectal cancer compared to those born in the 1960s. Researchers point to lifestyle, diet and environmental changes as likely drivers of the trend.
