Comcast splits into two companies: cable and NBCUniversal media

Comcast announced a plan to split into two independent companies — one retaining cable and tech operations under the Comcast brand, the other housing NBCUniversal and Sky. The separation will be structured as a tax-free spin-off. The move follows Comcast's recent shedding of most of its cable TV business into a new entity called Versant Media.
