Heatwave paralyses Polish rail: PKP Intercity cancels 21 trains on Monday
A heatwave has severely disrupted Polish rail services, with PKP Intercity cancelling 21 trains on Monday alone and Tuesday's list of cancellations already growing. Tracks are heating up to 70°C, causing rails to buckle and overhead power lines to fail. Expert Adrian Furgalski of advisory group TOR says the infrastructure is ill-equipped for extreme temperatures.
