House of the Dragon season 3 has continued with another massive episode, and this one makes a huge change to George R.R. Martin's Fire and Blood book.

In the latest episode of House of the Dragon season 3 , Rhaenyra Targaryen at last takes the Iron Throne, after Alicent Hightower made good on her word and opened the gates to the Red Keep. Rhaenyra's ascension is not without bloodshed, however, as she executes Otto Hightower, Alicent's father, on her way to the throne.

One major death from the books, though, did not happen in the show. In Fire and Blood, Alicent's brother, Gwayne Hightower, is present in King's Landing, and he's stopped from raising the alarm about Rhaenyra's arrival by the Gold Cloak commander Luthor Largent. Largent tells Gwayne that he's loyal to Daemon Targaryen, then kills Gwayne.

In the show, Gwayne is far away with Criston Cole, and Largent reveals his true allegiance in a dramatic moment in the throne room to defend Rhaenyra from the green guards instead.

How this changes the plot moving forward remains to be seen, as, now, anything could happen to Gwayne as the show goes on.

Another change to the Battle of the Gullet in the last episode might have accidentally erased Daenerys Targaryen from existence , too (though it's a fairly easy fix).

Martin previously railed against changes made to his source material on his Not a Blog page, later telling The Hollywood Reporter his relationship with showrunner Ryan Condal is "abysmal."

Resident Evil 2 director and Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya has jokingly detailed a concept for a cozy life sim game starring a retired Leon Kennedy.

Outside of series creator Shinji Mikami, you could make an argument for Kamiya being the most impactful person to be involved with the Resident Evil series. After the original game was the first game he was credited on, Kamiya then directed Resident Evil 2 which is still considered by many to be one of, if not the best game in the series. That second game is also the one that introduced us to Leon Kennedy, who has gone on to be the series' most beloved character.

But despite his massive impact on the series and the survival horror genre in general, Kamiya has openly said he hates horror , and earlier this year he pitched Capcom creating a "'non-scary' mode" for Resident Evil Requiem so he could enjoy the game's puzzles in peace. Now, over on Twitter (translated by Automaton ) Kamiya has responded to fan requests for him to return to the Resident Evil series – which he hasn't been involved with since his Resident Evil 4 turned into Devil May Cry – by detailing what he would do with a new game.

Kamiya says if he made a new Resident Evil title, "it'd be a game where a retired Leon spends his days in the countryside fishing, gathering wild vegetables, baking bread, walking his dog, tending to his garden, driving 50 kilometers to the nearest general store, inviting his old friends over for barbecues, fixing his elderly neighbour's oven, and selling homemade lemonade at the local festival. Would you still be OK with that?"

Given how huge the cozy game market is, people naturally are still OK with that, with one comment saying they'd be interested in "Resident Evil Pokopia." Kamiya acknowledges the fan response, saying: "Capcom, there seem to be a lot of people asking for a Resident not-Evil game like this. If you ever have the time, please consider making it… I'd like to play it too."

After smashing box office expectations this May, Kane Parsons' horror movie Backrooms is heading back to the big screen with 15 minutes of extra content.

As per Phoenix Theatres , the Backroom release, which is titled 'Backrooms: Everything Must Go Edition,' hits the 2 hours 6 minutes mark, compared to the original 1 hour 51 minute runtime. The listing reads, "This special showing will include an additional 15 minutes of new, theatrically exclusive post-credit bonus footage from Kane Parsons."

It is not clear what the bonus post-credits footage will entail. It could be cut scenes, a blooper reel, a tease to another movie, or director's commentary. The extended cut heads to US theaters on July 3 and will be available at Emagine Entertainment, Regal Cinemas, and more.

After hitting the big screen on May 29, Backrooms has had an extremely impressive theatrical run , opening to $81.4 million at the US box office and totalling over $330 million worldwide. The film proved to be a major hit with horror fans, earning an impressive 87% on Rotten Tomatoes . That is quite the feat considering the film's $10 million production budget, and the fact that it is Parson's feature debut.

Based on the online urban legend of the same name, Backrooms follows an employee at a furniture showroom who finds a doorway leading to an endless network of interconnected rooms. But when he steps inside, he realises he is not alone. The movie stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, and Lukita Maxwell.

For those unfamiliar with the original story, in 2019, an image was anonymously posted on 4chan, depicting an endless yellow room. Over time, internet writers expanded on the concept, documenting trips to the maze-like world. However, Parsons extended the lore in his hit Backrooms web series, which further explored the fear of liminal space.

AYN has announced that its Thor and Odin series handhelds are getting another price hike on Friday.

The Thor devices are now $10 to $30 more expensive, while the Odin 2 Portal and Odin 3 handhelds go up by $10.

The price increase goes into effect on Friday, so you still have a few days to act if you’re keen on these devices.

AYN is one of the more premium Android handheld brands out there, but it hasn’t been immune to the RAM crisis. The company previously announced price hikes early this year for some models, but it’s now revealed even more bad news.

AYN confirmed on Discord that the Thor, Odin 3, and Odin 2 Portal handhelds will all receive price increases on Friday (July 3). The firm explained that the Thor Lite, Base, Pro, and Max 512GB models will all receive $10 price hikes. Meanwhile, the Max 1TB model will go up by $30. Big oof.
