Baltic Sea as warm as the Black Sea – water temperatures hit records

Water temperatures in Poland have reached record highs, with the Baltic Sea warming to levels comparable to the Black Sea and the Vistula River rivalling the Nile. The thermal anomalies are a result of the ongoing extreme heatwave. Such high water temperatures can promote toxic algal blooms and pose risks to aquatic ecosystems.
