US and Iran agree to resume talks after weekend of strikes

The US and Iran agreed Sunday evening to halt attacks in the Gulf and restart negotiations over the Strait of Hormuz, after four days of renewed hostilities threatened a ceasefire signed on June 17. Talks resumed after an Iranian projectile struck a cargo vessel on Thursday and the US military struck Iranian targets on Saturday. Iran has not publicly confirmed the stand-down agreement, which was reported by Axios citing a US official.
