British American Tobacco cuts 9,000 jobs — one in five roles eliminated
British American Tobacco (BAT) is cutting around 9,000 jobs — approximately one-fifth of its 47,000-strong global workforce — as part of a sweeping cost-cutting and operational simplification plan. The redundancies form a central pillar of the company's turnaround strategy. It represents one of the largest restructurings in the British tobacco giant's history.
