The latest Ukrainian history textbook covers the "Volhynia tragedy" in just three pages. Outside western Ukraine, awareness of the massacre is minimal, and most Ukrainians view the UPA solely as a symbol of resistance against the Soviets, not against Poles. This fundamental difference in historical memory remains a major obstacle in Polish-Ukrainian relations.
