Black holes emit radio burps years after devouring a star, study finds
Astronomers using the Very Large Array radio telescope have found that supermassive black holes often emit delayed radio flares — months or years after tearing apart and consuming a nearby star. The phenomenon involves the black hole ejecting part of the consumed matter back into space. The discovery reveals that even apparently quiet galactic giants are far more active than previously thought.
