New Caledonia election: loyalists gain seats but no majority in Congress
Elections to the Congress of New Caledonia, a French overseas territory, saw pro-France loyalist parties strengthen their position to 24 seats. Independence supporters hold a combined 26 seats but are split across three separate lists. Neither camp secured an outright majority.
