Record 40.5°C in Słubice as European heatwave spreads eastward
The town of Słubice in western Poland recorded a historic high of 40.5°C on Sunday, as the deadly heatwave that struck Western Europe spread eastward. Temperatures exceeded 40°C in Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary. French health authorities reported around 1,000 excess deaths between June 24–27.
