Victorian premier deflects corruption allegations over $100bn Big Build programme
Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan has resisted calls for a royal commission into alleged corruption on the state's $100bn Big Build infrastructure programme. An investigation by Nine newspapers and 60 Minutes alleged that money from the projects was being funnelled to gangland figures, and that the government was warned about cost blowouts driven by demands from the CFMEU union. Allan insisted that "inflationary pressures on projects is not corruption".
