Rediscovered Megalodon Vertebrae Confirm the Shark Reached 24 Metres
A set of giant vertebrae belonging to the extinct Otodus megalodon, missing since the 1980s, has been rediscovered and re-examined by researchers from the Museum of Southern Jutland, Aarhus University and collaborators in the US and Australia. The specimen confirms earlier estimates that the megatooth shark reached roughly 24 metres (80 feet) in length. Megalodon lived nearly worldwide from approximately 15 to 3.6 million years ago.
