Billions for healthcare pay rises, but Polish hospitals slide into debt
Automatic pay rises for medical staff in 2026 are consuming the vast majority of Polish healthcare facilities' budgets, forcing managers to cut costs elsewhere or take on debt, according to Kacper Olejniczak of the Lewiatan Confederation. Wage costs are growing faster than hospital revenues, threatening long-term financial stability. Olejniczak warns that no rationally managed institution can sustainably operate under such a model.
