Athena coalition uses AI to hunt open-source bugs — a messy summer ahead for security teams

Chainguard CEO Dan Lorenc has launched the Athena coalition — roughly two dozen companies including Cisco, Cloudflare, Docker, JPMorganChase and BNY — to use AI to find and fix bugs in open-source software as easily as possible. Members have access to Anthropic's Project Glasswing and OpenAI's Daybreak bug-hunting models. Lorenc warns of a "messy" summer for security teams as AI surfaces vast numbers of previously hidden vulnerabilities.
