Ebola outbreak in DRC driven by decades of failed development

The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo says the fast-spreading Ebola outbreak in the country's east reflects decades of failed development. Residents of eastern DRC have faced not only Ebola but also mpox and cholera in recent years due to the absence of health, water, electricity and education services. The ICRC warns that without investment in basic infrastructure, further outbreaks are inevitable.
