Lightning bolt fired a gamma-ray burst toward Earth
Scientists recorded a lightning strike that emitted a gamma-ray flash directed toward Earth, a rare phenomenon known as a Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flash (TGF). Such events occur during thunderstorms and remain incompletely understood. The observation adds new data to the study of high-energy physics within Earth's atmosphere.
