Poland to quadruple "miniature bottle" alcohol levy to 100 PLN per litre
Poland's government plans to quadruple the levy on small alcohol bottles (up to 300 ml) from 25 to 100 PLN per litre of pure alcohol. All revenue would go to the National Health Fund (NFZ), which would gain roughly 297 million PLN annually. Finance Minister Andrzej Domański cited the social problem of morning alcohol consumption on the way to work. The draft law also raises the possibility of a complete ban on miniature bottles.
