Scientists read 4,000-year-old sealed clay tablets using CT scanning
Researchers have read the contents of cuneiform-inscribed clay tablets sealed inside clay envelopes for nearly 4,000 years, without physically opening them. Advanced imaging techniques were used to look inside the envelopes without destroying the irreplaceable artefacts. The tablets come from Kültepe in central Anatolia, modern-day Turkey, and are considered a highly valuable historical source.
