One in five Spaniards born abroad – immigration fuels economy and far right
One in five residents of Spain was born abroad, as the country has embraced mass immigration to offset demographic decline and labour shortages. While immigration is helping sustain the Spanish economy, it is also fuelling the rise of the far right, which is capitalising on public anxieties about the scale of arrivals.
