Nick Cave, Kylie Minogue and others' music scraped into AI training datasets
Australian musicians including Paul Dempsey of Something For Kate and Bernard Fanning have raised the alarm after discovering their songs were scraped into AI training datasets without consent. A search tool created by US publication The Atlantic revealed that millions of creative works have been harvested from the internet to train AI music-generation models. Artists warn the practice effectively devalues and renders their original work useless. Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue are also among those whose music was included.
