Bishop Jan Wątroba punished with coadjutor appointment over child abuse cover-up in Rzeszów diocese
Bishop Jan Wątroba of the Rzeszów diocese in Poland has been assigned a coadjutor bishop who will effectively take over the running of the diocese, three years before Wątroba reaches retirement age. According to unofficial sources cited by "Rzeczpospolita," the move is a Vatican punishment for Wątroba's negligence in handling clerical child sexual abuse cases. One of those cases was reported by the newspaper in January in its "Plus Minus" supplement.
