Spain's Ex-Transport Minister Abalos Gets 24 Years for Covid Corruption
José Luis Ábalos, former Spanish Transport Minister and one of PM Pedro Sánchez's closest allies, has been sentenced to 24 years and three months in prison for his role in the so-called "Koldo affair," a major corruption scandal involving Covid-19 PPE contracts. The case is far from over — further individuals from Sánchez's inner circle still face trial. The scandal is considered one of the biggest political corruption cases in recent Spanish history.
